چکیده
This paper presents the results of a preliminary assessment towards the potential estimation of solar process heating in paper industry in India. To begin with, data for (i) classification of paper mills on the basis of size and feedstock used (ii) extent of cogeneration in paper mills (iii) annual paper production (feed stock wise) (iv) specific thermal energy requirement for process heating etc. have been collected. Annual process heating requirement for paper production (based on feed stock used) in paper mills in India has been estimated. Availability of adequate solar resource in different states of the country was assessed for potential estimation. Some commercially available solar collectors that can supply heat at required temperature of paper industry (50-250C) have been selected and an assessment of their performance has been made. Majority of paper mills in India those are using agro residues and recycled fibers as raw feedstock are located in the states with adequate DNI availability (1900kWh/m). Annual process heating potential for the paper industry in India has been estimated at 43 PJ. © 2015 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd. Potentials of Solar Energy Use in Upstream Petroleum Industry
Extraction and processing of oil products consume 10% of the total energy produced by fossil resource. to prevent operational problems in downstream units Oil extracted from oil fields will be sent to the desalting plant for desalination and dehydration. One of the most important steps that have a vital role in this unit is pre-heating by heaters which use natural gas produced with crude oil at...
متن کاملImprovement of thermal performance of a solar chimney based on a passive solar heating system with phase-change materials
Passive solar systems such as solar chimneys need solar radiation in order to work. Therefore, they cannot present stable natural ventilation when solar energy vanishes: to have a more robust and stable condition, solar energy should be stored during the day and released back during the night. Phase change materials can save additional thermal energy during the day and release it during the...

This study represents a year-round energy performance of two solar water heating (SWH) systems with a 4m2 flat plate collector (FPC) and an evacuated tube collector (ETC) operating under the same weather conditions. The energy performance of the two considered systems was compared on a monthly and yearly basis. The obtained results showed that for an annual total solar insolation of ...

متن کاملSizing of a Packed Bed Storage for Solar Air Heating Systems (TECHNICAL NOTE)
Packed bed units generally, represent the most suitable storage units for air heating solar systems. In these systems the storage unit receives the heat from the collector during the collection period and discharges the heat to the building at the retrieval process. A method for sizing of packedbed storage in an air heating system is represented. The design is based on the K-S curves, which hav...
